Boatsje is a class mini 650 proto racing boat. The mini 650 is a shorthanded racer meant to sail against similar boats. The class is divided in two types. The serie: These boats need to be produced in quantities of at least 10. The designs are also less extreme. The proto: These are all individually designed and built. They have one major rule, they need to fit in a box of 6.5m long, 3m wide, 2m deep, and 12m high. Next to that you can do almost everything as long as it is safe.

Boatsje was hand made by Sander Vogelenzang in 2013, originally with a classic bow and the first mast was an aluminium mast. Sander later switched to a carbon mast, and sailed quite some races in the class with her. 

Later he redesigned Boatsje. He cut of her bottom and cut open the hull to change her into the scow bow design she is now. Winter 2025 I worked on getting her in racing condition. The major things I did are renewing the rigging and repainting the antifouling.
